Hasn’t it been so inspiring this Fall watching tides of people speaking out against the corporatocracy. The same facts that provoked the occupiers to rise up — how the financial well being and entrepreneurial potential of average citizens has been crushed by government actions designed to benefit companies at the expense of citizens, and how corporate decision-makers are allowed to bring about immense ecological and social harms because they’ve bought control over the agencies that used to regulate them — these are the same issues that motivate many of you to source your food from local, independent growers. It’s an act of protest against the toxic and inhumane corporate food system, and a way to use your purchasing power to rebuild the culture of entrepreneurialism that we all cherish. We started Grace Note Farm, and our off-farm food delivery program, for exactly these same reasons. Working together, we can transform this nation back into a land of responsibility, opportunity, and reciprocity.
As the holiday season approaches, we hope the inspiring events of the past few months have encouraged you to redoubled your efforts to buy from independent, locally owned businesses. Join us in Waltham on December 10 for the last delivery this year to the Boston area. We’ve rounded up a great selection of food staples and treats, grown out here in the hills by our neighbors, that are hard to source in town and that might be useful for the holidays – either for your own holiday cooking or for gifts. This list includes our humanely produced organic roasting chickens and eggs, Sweetwater farm’s certified organic lamb and grass-fed beef, syrups and honey, and terrific locally produced cheeses.

| Vermont Smoke & Cure in Barre Vt creates the best tasting cured pork products we've found in New England. All of their pork is humanely raised by farms in the area. They use natural ingredients, such as corn cobs and maple wood for the smoking. You can read about the farms they work with and their processing methods on their web site. Grace Note Farm takes our bacon to be smoked by them, for our whole pig customers. Although their products are not certified organic, we partner with them because they help small farmers who may grow only a few pigs each year to turn them into world class pork products. It's important to support this sort of service in our region, which is sorely lacking in meat processing facilities. . | |||
